Welcome to our photo gallery and description of three-dimensional (3-D) bas-relief plaques painted in 1 to 3 colors . We paint these with long lasting Matthews Acrylic Polyurethane (MAP) and 1-Shot Sign Enamels, using a paint sprayer, an airbrush, a mini-roller or an airbrush. We can paint these any color or hue, but we often use metallic bronze, brass, gold or silver paints We design and fabricate beautiful and elegant 3-D painted plaques each year featuring the seals, crests and logos of government organizations, courts, the military, police & sheriff departments, universities, clubs, businesses and families. Each plaque is custom crafted by our experienced and skilled craftsmen and artisans. We use several different techniques to make these impressive and authentic plaques which are moisture-proof, non-fading, graffiti-resistant and long-lasting. We design and fabricate hundreds of beautiful, hand-painted 3-D bas-relief 1-3 color painted plaques each year.
Over half of our plaques are painted, some in many bright colors, others in more subtle muted or metallic colors, and many are hand-rubbed with a dark-colored paint to accentuate the 3-D relief. This page describes and give examples of carved 3-D plaques that are painted in 1 to 3 colors. We also offer three other styles of carved painted plaques with different prices: (1) 3-D relief, 4 or more colors (Style 1.1.1); (2) 2.5-D relief, 4 or more colors (Style 1.1.3), and (3) 2.5-D relief, 1 to 3 colors (Style 1.1.5). It typically takes 1 to 3 hours for an artist to paint one plaque of this style. It make take 3 or 4 days in our paint shop to put on the different colors, because each color has to dry in our heated drying room before the next color is applied next to it or over it. The photos in the Gallery below show examples of typical 3-D plaques painted with 1 to 3 colors, many of them with hand-rubbed paint over a dried undercoat of paint with a different color. The photos below show typical examples of 3-D carved plaques that are painted in 1-3 colors; we can paint any 3-D plaque in these stles, not just the ones shown below. We have over 100 photos of other 3-D , 1 to 3 color plaques distributed throughout the TYPE pages of this website.
Fig 1 - This photo shows an example of a Hand-rubbed High-Density-Urethane (HDU) wall plaque carved in 3-D bas-relief and painted in just two colors, metallic silver and metallic brass paint. The silver is first sprayed over the entire plaque and thoroughly dried dried for a couple of days. , The brass metallic paint is then sprayed on the plaque, and then carefully hand-rubbed off of raised areas while the paint is still wet so the silver shows through. We use this hand-rubbed technique on black or dark brown over metallic silver also. After the metallic brass is thoroughly dry, we clear-coat the plaque twice.
