Welcome to our photo gallery and description of representative examples of three-dimensional (3-D) bas-relief, many color (4 or more colors) painted plaques . We design and fabricate thousands of these beautiful and striking 3-D bas-relief painted plaques each year featuring the seals, crests and logos of governments, the military, police & sheriffs, universities, clubs, businesses and families. Each plaque is custom crafted by our experienced and skilled craftsmen and artisans. We use several different techniques to make these impressive and authentic plaques which are moisture-proof, non-fading, graffiti-resistant and long-lasting.
Over half of our plaques are painted, some in many bright colors, others in more subtle muted colors. Our artists use artist brushes of various sizes, airbrushes, and mini-rollers to paint these plaques. This page describes and give examples of carved 3-D bas-relief plaques that are painted in 4 or more colors, sometimes as many as 10. We also offer three other styles of carved painted plaques with lower prices: (1) 2.5-D multi-level relief, 4 or more colors (style 1.1.3 ), (2) 3-D bas-relief, 1 to 3 colors (style 1.1.4); (3) 2.5-D multi-level relief, 1 to 3 colors (style 1.1.5). This style of plaque requires accurate and detailed painting. It typically takes 3 to 5 hours of painting time by an experienced painter to paint the many colors with artist brushes on a typical medium size (18 to 24 inches diameter) plaque. It make take 5 or 6 days in our paint shop to put on all the colors, because each color has to dry in our heated drying room before the next color is applied next to it or over it. The artist often has to mix paints to get the specified shade or hue of color and he will use an artist brush for detail and an airbrush for shading.

We also offer custom plaques that are more intricately carved and detailed than most of the plaques shown on this page. Plaques CA1510 and CA1515 below are examples of these plaques. Fig 1 - This photo shows an example of a High-Density-Urethane (HDU) wall plaque carved in 3-D bas-relief and hand-painted in more than ten colors. The artist used an airbrush to paint the blue background, and artist brushes to paint the details. This plaque took 5 hours to paint over a 5 day period, because the paints used are 1-Shot sign enamels, which have to dry over a day between coats in our heated drying room.
